It all started with five alpaca that needed a home, together. Next we decided that we want to spend our “second act” rescuing these lovely animals, and ensuring they are well cared for. Alpacas are beautiful, with miles of personality and amazing fiber that is fire retardant and water repellent! We fell for them in 2020, during the pandemic. It wasn’t until late 2021 that we decided to start a rescue, after seeing a need in the northeast. We take alpaca that need a new home for any reason.

We do not charge to take alpaca into the rescue. We just want them safe, healthy, and happy! It costs money to run a rescue, so we decided that a 501 c 3 charitable foundation would be the best way to allow us and others to help support these amazing animals.

Dr. Lauren at Pembroke Animal Hospital is our official veterinarian for Mema’s Alpaca Rescue Foundation. We believe in making sure she is paid for the wonderful care she gives these alpaca and all of our other animals. Thank you Dr. Lauren for your help!
